School Holiday Program

Spring school holidays with the Library!

The days are warmer, flowers are blooming, and the birds are chirping!

To celebrate the arrival of Spring the Library has put together some Spring themed craft kits to keep your little ones entertained over the holidays.Pick up a kit from your local Library and then follow along with our online tutorial to make:

- a seed bomb
- a bird seed feeder
- potato stamp gift paper.
Kits are limited - first in, first served! Kits will be available on Thursday 24 Sept and Friday 25 Sept from libraries at Bermagui, Bega, Tura and Eden.

It’s time to put your craft kits to use again as we make our final project ‘Potato stamp gift paper’.

Please note the Potato stamp gift paper craft requires an adult to assist children with some preparation.

Before we get crafty Anne will read two fun stories ‘We found a seed’ by Rob Ramsden and ‘Potato people’ by Pamela Allen. If you did not get a kit you can still join in the fun.

You will need:

• 1 sheet of large paper
• 2 cookie cutters
• 1 large potato
• Acrylic paint or ink (you can also make your own using flour water and food dye)
• Flat tray for spreading the paint (an old plate or a take away container lid would do)
• Knife for slicing potatoes (Ask an adult to help)

It’s time to put your craft kits to use again as we make our second project a ‘Bird Seed Feeder’. Thiscraft will require an adult to assist children with some preparation.

If you did not get a kit you can still join in the fun.

You will need:

• 1 bag of bird seed
• 1 sachet gelatine or ‘Jel-it-in’ vegetarian gelatine substitute or regular gelatine.
• 2 lengths of string for hanging
• 2 moulds (cookie cutters)
• A bowl for mixing

More school holiday activities using your craft kits are coming up.
