Juvenilia

Headland’s writers Festival comes to the library with this exciting exhibition of artworks by well know authors. Juvenilia is work produced by an author or artist while they were a child. This exhibition showcases the juvenilia of Australian children’s authors and illustrators and their early attempts at storytelling. 

Featured authors include Andy Griffiths, Alison Lester, Graeme Base, Ursula Dubosarsky, Danny Katz, Dub Leffler, Oliver Phommavanh, Aimee Chan, Chris Kennett, Kylie Howarth, Trent Roberts, Dianne Wolfer, Asphyxia, Susanne Gervay, Tim Harris, Hazel Edwards, Jeremy Lachlan, Craig Sheather, Mandy Foot

The Last Daughter – Movie Screening

Join us for this emotional and inspiring film event:  "After being raised by a white family, Brenda is taken away and returned to the First Nations family she didn’t know. Decades later, she feels disconnected from both halves of her life. But the traumas of her past do not lie quietly buried and Brenda is about to start a search that will uncover long buried secrets and lies, but also deeper connections to family and culture." The Last Daughter is a powerful and inspiring documentary about Brenda’s journey to unearth the truth in her past and reconcile the two sides of her family. The film is a companion screening to the book of the same name featured in the library Words and Music program.

Poem Time Featuring Bush Ballads

Join us for a morning of poetry at Tura Marrang Library. We will be joined by bush poetry performer, Phil McManus reciting his special brand of poetry.  Participants are invited to bring along a poem to read to the group. Funny poems, emotional poems, saucy poems, and powerful poems, all types of poems welcome. A terrific morning of entertainment in a welcoming and relaxed environment. Children 10 years + are welcome to attend.

Collaging the Self with Aimee Chan

In this workshop for kids and preteens award-nominated author Aimee Chan will teach the art of self expression and storytelling.
Using collage, drawing and words, participants will be encouraged to create a self portrait that reflects not just how the outside world sees them, but also how they see themselves. Ages 8-12. Cost $5.00
