Tideland: Art + Word

Ekphrasis Challenge

Bega Valley Shire Library invites poets and writers to submit poems responding to your choice of 10 artworks from the upcoming Tideland exhibition to be held at SECCA, Bega.

Submissions open: 16 December 2024 – 31 January 2025.

Tideland runs at the South East Centre for Contemporary Art (SECCA) from 14 February to 10 April 2025.

Submitted poems will be considered for display alongside the corresponding artwork during the exhibition. Poets of each successful poem will be awarded $300 for their writing. Plus! The South Coast Writers Centre will publish the selected poems in their annual anthology for 2026.

The selected poems will be publicly announced at a special event to be held at SECCA on Friday 28 February 2025 at 5.30pm.

The Tideland exhibition explores the aesthetics and symbolism of bodies of water (lakes, estuaries, beaches, creeks and streams), celebrates our unique regional location and offers a fresh perspective of what landscapes mean to us.

The 10 artworks can be viewed online via the SECCA website along with the full Terms and Conditions and a link to the online submission form.

The Regional Arts Fund is an Australian Government initiative that supports sustainable cultural development in regional, remote and very remote Australia.
