What can I borrow?

Library members can borrow 30 physical items at a time. Books and audiobooks are lent for 4 weeks, while magazines and DVDs are lent for 2 weeks. Items can be renewed twice if they not reserved by another member. eBook, eAudiobook and eMagazines loan limits vary, so please check your app for details.

It is the responsibility of parents and carers to monitor their children’s browsing and borrowing, including eresources.

Reciprocal members can borrow 10 physical items at a time.

How do I join the library?

After joining online you will need to visit your closest library within 30 days of registering with some identification.  During lockdown you can email a copy of your identification to us and we will post your member card to you. Once we verify your identification, you will receive your library membership card and obtain full membership privileges. Your provisional on-line registration will allow you to use library computers and have access to a range of on-line databases. If you fill in the email field on your membership you will receive an email with your temporary member number and password. Alternatively print the acknowledgment page to have a record of your membership details.

Identification is required

When joining our library, proof of name and residential address are required. Examples of identification are a rates notice, driver's licence or electricity bill. If you are under 16 years of age you will need the I.D. and signature of a parent or guardian to gain borrowing privileges.

All Libraries are now cashless - payments are only accepted using credit card or EFTPOS.

Non-residents who are members of another library are eligible to join free of charge. We will ask to see your membership card from the other library and may contact them before we finalise your membership with us.

Extenuating circumstances membership

We want everyone to be able to join our library. We know times are tough for some people in our community and that sometimes people need to stay in non-permanent accommodation. Non-permanent accommodation can include staying with friends or family, living in caravan parks or hotels, sleeping rough, free camping or living out of a vehicle.

Usually, we require proof of address and identification to join our library but if you are experiencing extenuating circumstances at the moment and cannot provide traditional forms of identification and proof of address, come and see us anyway and we may be able to join you up.
