Join our Library
It’s free! If you live, work or go to school in the Bega Valley Shire, you can enjoy full library membership. As a member, you can borrow items from any of our libraries located in Bega, Bermagui, Eden and Tura Beach and return them to any branch.
Our libraries are for everyone. We offer engaging and interactive activities for every age and interest. Whether you’re a child discovering the joy of reading, a student studying or an adult looking for a new hobby, our library is your place. There’s always something interesting happening, so contact your local library to see what’s on:
Bega 6499 2127
Bermagui 6499 2411
Eden 6499 2541
Tura Beach 6499 2340
With our online catalogue and library app, you can easily manage everything from your computer, smartphone or mobile device, making it more convenient for you to access our services – such as renewing loans, browsing and reserving items – anytime, anywhere.
Our libraries are cashless, so we only accept payments by credit card or EFTPOS.
What you can borrow
As a library member, you can borrow up to 30 physical items at a time, including books, magazines, DVDs, children’s CDs and audiobooks. All library items have the same loan period of four weeks. Items can be renewed twice unless another member has reserved them. Loan limits for our eResources including eBooks, eAudiobooks and eMagazines vary, so check your app for details.
You can also enjoy our warm and inviting spaces to read, browse, hang out, use our computers or print documents.
(Parents and carers are responsible for monitoring their children’s browsing and borrowing, including eResources.)
How to join the library
Joining is easy! You can join either online or in person.
We need to verify your identity and residential address with a driver’s licence, rates notice, electricity bill or similar. If you join online, you’ll need to show your ID at your nearest library within 30 days of registering.
If you’re under 16, a parent or guardian needs to verify your identity and address.
Membership for everyone
We want everyone to be able to join our library. We understand that some community members may not have a permanent place to stay, whether you’re staying with friends or living in a caravan park or out of a vehicle, you can join our library.
If you can’t provide proof of address and ID, please come and see us. We’ll try to help you join, no matter your situation.
If you have health, mobility or transport challenges, we offer Library Link, a free delivery and pick-up library service.
Can I borrow if I'm visiting the area?
If you’re a visitor and member of another library, you can join our library as a reciprocal member. We’ll need to see your home library member card and verify your member status with your home library. Reciprocal members can borrow 10 physical items at a time.
