Ancestry Library Edition brings the world’s most popular consumer online genealogy resource to our library. Archives Resource Kit

Bega Library is one of the community access points and holds the Archives Resources Kit of State Records NSW. The Kit is a collection of microfilm of the most popular and heavily used colonial records. These records cover such subjects as convict arrivals, assisted immigrants, some births, deaths and marriages, electoral rolls, returns of the colony, land grants and the Colonial Secretary’s papers 1788-1825.

Be Connected

We run regular Tech Training workshops at all our libraries covering a wide range of technology topics from using a computer for beginners to updating your iPad, from cybersafety and online shopping to setting up an email account. We offer technology drop-in times when you can pop in with your tech problem. We offer one-on-one training thanks to our tech volunteers.

Imagine BorrowBox as a branch of the library. Once you become a library member, you receive a membership number and password. You can then go online, or download the app on your Apple or Android device. It’s then as simple as logging in with your details, and you can access all the audio and ebook content that the library subscribes to.

Library Services Strategic Plan

The Bega Valley Shire Library Service Strategic Plan 2020 – 2025 will lead the direction of the library services over the next five years. The plan is informed by feedback from library users, our community partners and library staff who know and understand our customer needs well. It is also informed by peer review and research into the library sector, an analysis of our changing demographics and of the performance of the Library Service against other libraries in NSW.

National Science Week 2020


National Simultaneous Storytime

National Simultaneous Storytime is an important annual campaign that aims to encourage more young Australians to read and enjoy books. It is a colourful, vibrant, fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy using an Australian children's book that explores age appropriate themes, and addresses key learning areas of the National Curriculum for Grades F to 6 and the pre-school Early Learning Years Framework.

Words and Music

Words and Music is a free monthly program centred around a common theme or era where participants will discuss related books, films and music – even enjoying performances from local musicians and performers. The program aims to reduce social isolation for older people by providing a place to meet, talk and be entertained. Morning tea is provided, and free transport is available for those who need it.
