It’s free! If you live, work or go to school in the Bega Valley Shire, you can enjoy full library membership. As a member, you can borrow items from any of our libraries located in Bega, Bermagui, Eden and Tura Beach and return them to any branch.
Our libraries are for everyone. We offer engaging and interactive activities for every age and interest. Whether you’re a child discovering the joy of reading, a student studying or an adult looking for a new hobby, our library is your place. With our online catalogue and library app, you can easily manage everything from your computer, smartphone or mobile device, making it more convenient for you to access our services – such as renewing loans, browsing and reserving items – anytime, anywhere.
Our libraries are cashless, so we only accept payments by credit card or EFTPOS.
Membership for everyone!
We want everyone to be able to join our library. We understand that some community members may not have a permanent place to stay, whether you’re staying with friends or living in a caravan park or out of a vehicle, you can join our library.
If you can’t provide proof of address and ID, please come and see us. We’ll try to help you join, no matter your situation.
If you have health, mobility or transport challenges, we offer Library Link, a free delivery and pick-up library service.
How to join:
Online
We need to verify your identity and residential address with a driver’s licence, rates notice, electricity bill or similar. If you join online, you’ll need to show your ID at your nearest library within 30 days of registering.
If you’re under 16, a parent or guardian needs to verify your identity and address.

If you’re a visitor and member of another library, you can join our library as a reciprocal member. We’ll need to see your home library member card and verify your member status with your home library. Reciprocal members can borrow 10 physical items at a time.

I got an email/SMS telling me to renew my registration?
Our Library Members must naturally renew membership every 2 years or will no longer be able to borrow from the local library. To renew membership simply call your local library or talk to our friendly staff to renew your library card.
I can't remember my username or password?

Can I join online?
Yes, you can join online.
You will need to verify your age and residential address with one form of primary documentation. (i,e driver's license, photo card, Medicare card)

How do children (under 16) join the library?
If you are under 16 years of age. You will need to have a parent, carer or guardian to verify your identity and address. If you have concerns or are not sure you can fulfil these requirements, please contact your local library for more information.
