Access Bega Valley Shire Library from your iPhone, iPad, Android phone or tablet. The app is packed with features and allows you to search the library catalogue, manage your account (with built in library card), renew and reserve items. You can discover FREE eBooks, eAudiobooks and digital magazines, view and book all your favourite library events as well as keep in touch with library news.

Heard of a reading suggestion or event that you don’t want to forget? You can create reading and wish lists for books and events so that you don’t miss out. The app can also send you notifications to remind you about your loans and bookings.

After some inspiration or motivation to read more? You can now leave and access book reviews in the app as well as a Reading Tracker (think fitness tracking but for reading) where you track your reading activity and unlock virtual rewards!!

The app is compatible with both Apple and Android devices and can be download from the Apple App Store and the Android Play Store.

How Do I Update to the New Library App?

Depending on your device the app may automatically update or you may need to update the app in the App Store for iOS and Google Play for Android devices.

 

What Info do I need to Log In?

You will need to know your member code and PIN/password (birthdate in the following format: DDMMYYY). To link family members you will need to know their member number and PIN/password too.

 

I can’t see all the options you’re telling me about, like book carousels and event carousels – what’s the problem?

If you have an iPhone and have a large text size selected in your settings it will change the display of the app, it will not display the new items carousels and it may not look like our example image. To change these settings so that the app displays correctly go to:

Settings -> Display & Brightness -> Text size -> and adjust the sizing accordingly.

 

How can I make room bookings and search library programs and events?

All featured events now display in the app underneath where you see the book carousel. To view all available events and access room bookings select theAll Events button. Events can be filtered by location or category and can also be viewed in a calendar layout. All loans, reservations and bookings can be easily viewed in the customer’s My Account page.

You can create reading or wish lists for both books and events and access them via theMy Listspage inMy Account. To add an item to a list, search for a book or event in the app and select the bookmark tab at the top of the item. You can either create a new list or add the title/event to an existing list.To create a new list, selectNew List, enter the name of your new list (this is a free text field and you can call itanything you like) and select theNew Listbutton to save it. To add a title or event to an existing list, select the list that you want to save it to and selectDone.

 

I speak a language other than English, how can I change this?

Language preference can be changed by accessing theMy Accountpage and selectingLanguage. If your language isn’t available, contact your local library.

 

I want to motivate myself or my family to read more

The Reading Tracker, like fitness tracking but for reading, tracks your reading activity and unlocks virtual rewards. You can start tracking your reading by selecting Reading Tracker rom the My Account menu. You can record the number of books read, time spent reading, number of reading sessions and monitor Book Completion Rate.

 

How can I review a book that I have read?

From the Reading Tracker page you can also choose Reviews to leave a book review for you to come back to later. Select the Write a Review option, select the book to review from your recent loans then rate the book and provide your review. Reviews are not publicly available

 

How do I get notifications?

Push notifications can be enabled to remind you about reservations, loans, checkout alerts, and general library notices.

From the Settings menu select Preferences then toggle on the account notifications you would like to receive.

You also need to opt in to receive notifications from the app in your phone settings: 

For iPhone, go to Settings > Notifications > Bega Valley Shire Library > Allow Notifications, then choose the preferred alert types such as Lock Screen, Notification Centre and Banners.

For Android, go to Settings > Notifications > App notifications > toggle on the slider for BVSL Libraryapp
