Justice of the Peace (JP) Service

Bega Valley Shire Library provides free Justice of the Peace (JP) services at Bega Library and Tura Marrang Library.

Our JP service is delivered by a local volunteer Justice of the Peace and is available on a drop-in basis. No bookings are required.

How a JP can help

 

A Justice of the Peace can assist with:

  • Witnessing statutory declarations
  • Witnessing affidavits
  • Certifying copies of original documents
  • Certifying a person's identity

Session Times

Bega Library: Every second Monday, 11.00am–1.00pm

Tura Marrang Library: Every Tuesday, 11.30am–1.00pm

Before You Attend - Please ensure that:

  • The JP is authorised to witness your documents
  • Your documents are complete and ready for presentation
  • Your documents have not been signed before meeting with the JP

Important Information

Justices of the Peace cannot:

  • Provide legal advice
  • Assist with writing statutory declarations
  • Assist with writing affidavits

While bookings are not required, we recommend contacting your local library before attending to confirm the JP is available, as volunteer commitments may occasionally affect session availability.
