I Naturalist Fungi Citizen Science at Bermagui Library

Fungi author Sofia Zvolanek visiting from Sydney & with local Bermagui fungi photographer Caitlin (Caity) Brown. Sofia has extensive experience identifying mushrooms & uploading them to iNaturalist.

Fungi Short Film Festival

A selection of films offering a unique perspective on the hidden kingdom beneath our feet — and its potential to transform ecosystems, communities and creative practice.

Program includes:

  • MicoCosmo: A Fungi’s World in a Festival: A warm and engaging look inside Italy’s first fungi festival, celebrating the people, ideas and passion behind a growing global movement.
  • Peaks to Prairie: A Holistic Regenerative Approach: An inspiring story of land restoration, where native fungi, wood waste and cattle work together to rebuild soil health and support climate resilience.
  • Ricochet: Sculpture in Mycelium: A visually rich exploration of mycelium as a living material, where art and biology merge in innovative and unexpected ways.

Tura Marrang Library 10 Year Celebration

Join us at Tura Marrang library to celebrate 10 years of library services to the community. There will be activities for young and old including Pia the Magician, community book selection, craft and a Sausage sizzle. Everyone is welcome to join the fun.

Origami Craft Station: Create a Snapdragon

Join us for a creative origami session where we’ll make a playful snapdragon — a clever paper creation with a “mouth” that opens and closes. All materials provided.

Pia the Magician

Step into a world of wonder and imagination with Princess Rainbow for a dazzling, joy-filled morning of magic, laughter and delightful puppet adventures. This enchanting event blends entertainment with a touch of learning. Bookings required. 11.00am. Book for Pia the Magician.

Community Book Selection Day

Have your say in the books held in your local library! Browse a range of fiction, non-fiction and graphic novels for all ages, and select books you would like the library to purchase. Proudly supported by Sound Text Media.

Afterimage: A Poetry Workshop in Ekphrasis

Join award-winning poet, Melody Paloma in this intriguing workshop as she guides you through a series of writing prompts and exercises in your response to the exhibition by Seth Birchall (Unseen Cosmic Clock) and Dennis Golding (Power: The Future Is Here) at SECCA. While grounded in an understanding of ekphrasis as a literary tradition, the workshop invites participants to push beyond fixed definitions of the form, making space for experimentation.

Join us for NAIDOC Week Storytime as we celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture through stories, songs and a fun craft activity for young children. Free event.

Dino Dig Storytime

Discover Dinosaurs at Eden library in our fun-filled STEM storytime. Kids will learn some fossil facts and become amateur palaeontologists as they try their hand at a dinosaur dig in the library. Free event.

Fairy Wings & Storytime Things

Let’s visit a fairy world! In this Storytime we’ll marvel at the delicate fairy illustrations by Ida Rentoul Outhwaite and enjoy the magical poems by Annie R. Rentoul. Meet fairies who wake at dawn, flutter through flowers, and fly home as the stars appear. Children will make their own fairy wings to decorate using mostly recycled and found objects. All materials provided. Free event.

Move and Groove with Bubbles

Move and groove with bubbles is a joyful, high-energy library session designed especially for little movers aged 3-8. Children will explore colourful activity mats set up in different zones, each offering simple movement games that encourage jumping, stretching, balancing and dancing at their own pace. To keep the excitement bubbling along, we’ll be filling the space with plenty of bubbles for extra wonder and giggles. Free event.

Sprout a Succulent for Science Week

Join us for a Science Week activity designed especially for curious little learners.

Children will explore how plants grow by propagating a small succulent of their own to take home. Through gentle hands-on play, we’ll talk about leaves, soil, and sunlight while nurturing early science skills. No lab coats required—just curiosity and imagination!

Create Your Own Zines or Graphic Novels

Dive into the world of self-publishing! In this fun, hands-on workshop, kids will learn how to create their very own zines, comics, books or graphic novels. No drawing skills? No problem! This is not an art class, it’s all about storytelling, creativity and ideas. Free event.

Writing Secret Messages

Want to write a secret message? Come and learn three ways to write and reveal secret messages. Along the way, learn about the science behind secret messages: camouflage, chemical reactions and filtering colours. Bring a friend so you can send messages to each other! Free event.

Create a 3D Letter with the Chompsaw!

Get crafty at the library and turn plain cardboard into something awesome! Kids will use the cool (and safe!) Chompsaw to cut out the first letter of their name, then decorate it to match their style. It’s noisy fun, hands-on making and a great chance to try real tools.

Get ready to chomp some cardboard and take home a letter that’s totally you! Free event.

How to be a Game Master!

Here’s your chance to learn how to run Dungeons & Dragons tabletop role-playing games. Learn from two experienced local game masters who will share their best practices and favourite hacks with you.

The workshop will run as two groups - one for beginners and one for more experienced players (intermediate). No matter what your level, come along and start your GM adventure! Bring your own lunch and drink bottle. Snacks will be provided. Free event.

Library and Information Week – Local Landmarks and Landscapes Photography Competition

The library is looking for your best pictures featuring our beautiful local area for our photography competition. Finalists will be exhibited in our libraries where the community will vote for their favourite images. Winners will receive a gift voucher and have their image printed on a jigsaw puzzle that will be available to borrow at the library. Pick up an entry form at your local library. Entries close Tuesday 14 July. Free event.
