This Autumn, our library comes alive with a dynamic program of events for adults, children and families, including creative workshops, engaging talks and special children's activities during the school holidays.


Under 7s Activities

Move and Groove with Bubbles

Move and groove with bubbles is a joyful, high-energy movement game. Children will explore different zones each offering simple movement games that encourage jumping, stretching, balancing and dancing at their own pace. We will be filling the space with tons of bubbles for extra giggles. Move, laugh and connect. This event is proudly supported with funding in recognition of Grandparents Day.

Play and Learn (Under 6)

A fun morning of activities for younger kids and their guardians.  Bega Valley Shire’s Preschool Liaison Officers Vanessa and Kerrin will introduce educational play activities that are bound to put smiles on little faces while making them think. This service is funded under the NSW Department of Education 2026 Start Strong Pathways program.

School Age – Art & Literacy

Leaf Bug Art

We will combine art and science in this creative hands-on art activity. Using autumn leaves, twigs, and stems we will make a fantastic natural bug artwork. Children will also learn some fun facts about our unique insect life and can test their bug knowledge.

Tree-squeak the Old-growth Gum – Storytime with Robyn O’Neill

Robyn will be reading her book Tree-squeak the Old-growth Gum then we will create an artwork inspired by the story. Robyn is an author, teacher, art teacher and environmentalist.  Tree-squeak the Old-growth Gum is inspired by the old growth eucalypts of our native forests. Signed books can be purchased from the author on the day.

Create Your Own Zines or Graphic Novel

Dive into the world of self-publishing! In this fun, hands-on workshop, kids will learn how to create their very own zines, comics, books or graphic novels. From character development through to story-boarding, this workshop will guide participants in developing their story and making it come to life on the page.  No drawing skills? No problem! This is not an art class.

Once Upon a Costume

This one-day workshop invites children to come dressed in their favourite costume and work together to create an original play from scratch. Guided by the facilitator children will explore the basics of theatre-making through games and collaborative storytelling. The workshop culminates in a short, informal performance for family and friends.

National Simultaneous Storytime 2026

On Wednesday 27 May at 12.00pm AEST, millions of children, parents, teachers and library lovers across Australia and beyond will come together to read Luna Roo: the Kangaroo Baller — written by Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd, and illustrated by Jake Minton.  NSST celebrates the joy of reading, storytelling and connection. The story follows the spirited kangaroo Luna and her friends as they chase their football dreams across the outback, blending action, teamwork and fun to inspire young readers.

iPad Drawing with Procreate

Do you enjoy drawing and painting? Are you keen to learn new skills and techniques? In this workshop we will cover all the basics of iPad drawing using Procreate. Procreate is a drawing app available for tablets.  We will learn about the most useful tools and features as we create an illustration together. No previous experience is necessary. iPads and pencils supplied. Free event.

DIY Botanical Bath Bombs

Ready for a fun DIY project? Learn how to create your own relaxing floral bath bombs. We will use essential oils, Himalayan salts, soothing clays and a sprinkle of flowers to create these luscious bombs. Give them as a gift to friends or family or for your self-care time.

Fabric-Covered Bead Necklace Workshop

Enjoy a creative workshop where you’ll design and make your own fabric-covered bead necklace. Using colourful fabric tubes and smooth wooden beads, you’ll create a unique handmade piece. No sewing required. This session is easy to follow and suitable for most ages and all skill levels. Free event

Glass Painting

Dr Ed Southorn has 30 years’ experience working in journalism and PR and teaching media studies.

In this practical, accessible and fun workshop, Ed will guide you through everything you need to know about working with media.

·      How to make social media work for you.

·      Tips on writing, talking on the radio, photos and video, interviewing, communicating with journalists.
